National Institute of Metrology (NIM), China
ABSTRACT
The scope of this session is on the use of digital technologies in legal metrology as well as aspects of legal metrology in the treatment of digital technologies.
- Digitalisation in legal metrology for the quality assessment and validation of algorithms and software
- Digital certificates for conformity assessment, testing, and inspection certificates
- Principles and technologies for remote monitoring, remote calibration, and remote conformity assessment
- Conformity assessment for measuring instruments with embedded AI
The session is organised by the OIML Digitalisation Task Group (DTG), wich supports the OIML in the definition of and preparation for its future in the digital era. The DTG examines relevant matters, technological advances and potential impacts related to the digital transformation of legal metrology. One general aim of the DTG is to support, promote, and coordinate the international harmonisation and implementation of digital transformation in legal metrology in close cooperation with representatives of international and regional organisations in the scientific and quality infrastructure (QI), based on the respective Joint Statement of Intent.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZER
Dr. Sascha Eichstädt is the leader of the department “Metrology for digital transformation” at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) since mid-2021. He received his Diploma in Mathematics in 2008 at the Humboldt University Berlin, and his PhD in Theoretical Physics in 2012 at the Technical University Berlin. He is a passionate metrologist since 2008 when he joined the group “Mathematical modelling and data analysis” at PTB to work on measurement uncertainty for time series. In 2017 he started his adventures in digital transformation of metrology as working group leader of the group “Coordination Digitalization” in the Presidential Staff of PTB. He chaired the EURAMET working group "Metrology for digital transformation” from 2020-2022. Sascha Eichstädt is chairing the OIML Digitalisation Task Group since 2022 and the IMEKO Technical Committee on Digitalisation since 2021.
